Last week, I went to Yakinikutei Ao-Chan with my mother and her colleauge for dinner after work. It was a place that I have not visited in a long while (about 1-2 years?) and I really enjoy the food there.
The place seems to be mostly populated by Japanese and I figured that if you want to eat good Japanese food, follow the Japanese people and you would be led to the right place and hence, I felt that the place must be of a certain standard in their eyes since the food is not exactly cheap. To be honest, the ambience of the place is also nothing great and it may even be a little cramp but at least you get privacy from eating behind traditional shoji.
The place was very packed that day and Ao-chan's lady boss asked if we could finish our meals in an hour as she needed to make space for the next group that was coming in and we agreed to it. Do make sure that you make a reservation beforehand as the place is really popular.
We ordered 4 sets of Belly Tender Prime beef(winner of the day), 1 set of ox tongues, 2 egg drop soup, 5 onigiri (really huge!), Raw beef sashimi with raw egg ($14.80- my all-time favorite), mushrooms to grill, lettuce to eat with the grilled meat and 2 ice-cream (Mine is yuzu sorbet and my mother's colleague, Uncle sato, ate the green tea ice cream). The total amount of our meal costs about $240!
Anyway, the food there is tasty and fresh as you can see in the limited pictures that I had taken. Do try it!
