I didn't even get to say goodbye.
It was only a few hours since I last saw you.
I hope that you are in a better place now.
Bye, my pungent one.
You know, I thought that since most of my neighbours leave their plants just outside their house, it would be safe for me to do so too. WRONG assumption. I was honestly hopping mad when I realized that my pot of shallot was missing from its usual spot. How low can people stoop? Seriously, stealing a less than a month's old pot of shallots from directly outside my doorstep?! I do not know who the culprit is but for some reason, I believe that it is some desperate auntie who stole it. My mother's friend commented that may be that auntie wanted to cook and found out that she lacked shallots. Oh well, lucky my pot of shallots saved you old auntie. Just so you know, it is only polite to ask and not STEAL it.
Not that safe after all. Low Crime does not mean no crime.
Singapore is really not that safe. I believe that there is no such safe place unless really harsh laws (like the Islamic law on cutting off a limb) are enforced. Petty thefts happen all the time and you have to really be responsible for your own things. I cannot say that I have learnt that lesson well but at least, I think I am more careful than 1 year ago.
Anyway, yesterday I saw this news article on a robbery case in Singapore which left an Indonesian dead at a public area. I was quite surprised with the level of brazenness these people have to commit such a crime in my Singapore which is regarded to be one of the safest in the world as mentioned by DPM Teo recently. We really need to step up on the penalties to give these people a wake up call.
For your Information on the Theft laws in Singapore.
