There are so many things to see and eat at this BTS station! The streets would come alive at night and makeshift stalls would be set-up everywhere. This means cheap clothes, accessories and shoes up for grabs!
This does not mean that there is nothing to do in the day. On one side of the station is the posh and expensive Siam Paragon where branded goods can be bought and there are also two major attractions to go to; Madame Tussauds Museum and the Siam Ocean World which can be reached via exit 3 or 5 of Siam BTS Station.
On the other side of the station, there is an eclectic mixture of cute themed shop houses and cafes. Many of those shops are similar to the Haji lane in Singapore in terms of price and layout so do not expect to get cheap deals unless you get lucky. Even so, there are a few shopping malls that house levels of cheap goods so try to lookout for them. The place is huge but thankfully, it is not as cramped as Chatuchak as the walkways are quite wide and there are many shops with air-condition.
FOOD- nomnomNOM!
During my last trip, my travel buddy- Lihui brought us to meet with her thai friend and her friend brought us to two popular bangkok eating places that can be reached via exit 5 of Siam BTS Station.
- Somtam Nua Papaya Salad Restaurant

This restaurant is mostly packed and my friends and I can attest to it! Luckily Lihui's thai friend had made reservations beforehand and we managed to skip the queuing. My friends and I ordered their popular spicy pork floss noodles( could not remember the exact name ) and the Som tam (papaya salad). I absolutely love the noodles but it was a tad spicy for me as I have a low threshold for spicy food. Lihui's thai friend mentioned that the noodles were a unique creation that was a specialty in this restaurant. You cannot find this dish anywhere else. The price of the food here is slightly more expensive than the roadside stalls but far cheaper than any restaurants in Singapore. It costs us less than S$10 for the two dishes!
The mango desserts that they serve here is really quite refreshing! My friends and I chose the one which was most popular- The Mango Tango and we added the sticky rice for our set. All mango-ey! The dessert cost us 120BHT (approximately S$4.80) The ice cream tasted like fresh mangoes. Actually, it was more like a mango sorbet which had a tinge of sweetness that was not too overpowering. The dessert was not overly sweet and very light on our tastebuds. Nice!
