Zi Char - Sunset Way

Lying in an inconspicuous area at the void deck of Block 107 and somewhere along Sunset way, the zi char store which has a sign stating 'SEAFOOD' looked nothing out of the ordinary.
That was the place that my primary school friends and I went to have our occasional dinner outing last week. It turned out that the place actually churns out one of the nicest butter crabs that I have ever tasted.

The meal cost about a hundred dollars in total for the 7 of us. We ordered a butter crab, chilli crab, tofu, pork ribs, steamed broccoli and ngo hiang. Out of all these, I was pleasantly surprised by the broccoli which looked bland but tasted just right. It was simple yet tasty and it also had a slight crunch to it without being overly crunch for my liking. I like the pork ribs too though I must comment that I think that in general, many places are able to serve this standard of pork rib too. In my opinion, the tofu and ngo hiang was nothing great and the worse dish was the Chili crab :( The sauce was too watery and it was not even spicy.  The best dish award for me went hands down to the butter crab which I had undermined due to its mediocre appearance. Who knew that it was that fragrant!

Talking about crabs, there is this place in Choa Chu Kang which serves up great chilli crabs and salted egg yolk crabs! It is at Sunshine Place and I love the zi char there. I would definitely put up another post when I go there once more:)

Since my polytechnic years, I have known Sunset Way to be the go-to place for my dose of dessert.  I love Daily Scoop for its wonderful freshly made waffles which is paired with their homemade ice-creams. The price of the set which includes a scoop of ice-cream and waffle cost about $5.50 which I feel that it is definitely worth it:) After our dinner at the hawker centre, we walked further in Sunset Way to Daily Scoop! I love a good dessert! <3
