I LOVE TAMPOPO!
This restaurant has a wide selection of Japanese food that are mostly of good standards. Do try this place out if you are feel like pampering yourself a little as there are many great side dishes worth a try!
Unagi Sushi and Milk Tea Pudding
For me, I feel that the Unagi sushi and milk tea pudding are to die for. The Unagi is as tasty as many other places but I think it stands out due to the thick succulent slices of Unagi fish. Satisfaction oozes out with each bite. The Milk Tea pudding is one dessert that I would crave for. Since coming back from Japan, I have been turned into a pudding lover. Do not get me started on Japan and its awesomeness. Anyway, the Milk Tea pudding is a unique item that I have yet to see it elsewhere at other Japanese restaurants. It has a strong tea aroma and the texture is not as soft as the usual puddings. Both my 11 year old sister and I love it while my 20 year old sister dislike it due to its strong milky taste.
Salmon Skin
I also love the other items there too like the salmon skin which is really crispy and appetizing. I once went to a Japanese bar near boat quay which also serve this dish. Apparently, I found out that it is usually served with beer.
Tasty Egg
The ramen's tasty egg(aka hanjuku egg) which is perfectly runny on the inside is one item that I would surely order to go with my ramen whenever I eat ramen there. I do not know how to judge a good ramen so I cannot place any verdict on the ramens that I have eaten so far although, many online websites give Tampopo's ramen a relatively high rating. For me, as long as my ramen has a proper hanjuku egg with its runny yolk, the noodles are springy, the meat within the noodles are tasty and not too dry and the soup base is not overwhelming then I would be a happy girl. I would leave the finer details to the connoisseurs.
