If you LOVE massages and you happen to visit Bangkok, I urge you to visit Health Land Spa & Massage for your dose of happiness in a relatively professional and relaxing environment. You would probably enjoy the massage! By the way, all my comments are my own and no one pays me to advertise for them.
Before the last Bangkok trip, I have already heard much about Health Land Spa & Massage from my parents. My father stayed in Bangkok for about 2 years due to his job posting and he visited there often. I visit Bangkok quite often but for some reason, I have yet to visit that place. The online comments for that place gave it a relatively good rating and I decided to head there during the last trip. It is about the same price as the ones near my hostel that I stayed in but the place feels very posh and the massage is more professional though the location may be a little inconvenient.
Since it was our last stop before we head back to Singapore, we decided to splurge. I overspent and my terribly nice travel buddies, Li hui and Meng Koon, decided to help me cover the rest of the amount that I could not cover. Touched but embarrassed! We took the Thai Massage With Herbal Compress package (750Bht for 2hrs) which was more expensive than the usual Traditional Thai Massage (450Bht for 2hrs). I wondered what was so special about the herbal compress which cost the additional 300 Bht (S$12).
Comments about THE massage
Since I love massages and I have always gone for massages during my Bangkok trips as many times as possible, I was asked by my travel buddies about the differences between this place and the rest. My reply was that I felt that the massage was better at Health Land because I think that the masseuse are better trained in pressing the acupuncture points to make us feel more relaxed and comfortable. I also said that most of the massages are different with the change in masseuse and even though the outline process is similar, there will be differences in the pressure and styles of massaging. I felt that it all depends on your luck and you would need to voice out if you feel uncomfortable or if you would want a change in strength to make the process as enjoyable as possible.
Anyway, in all honesty, I did not enjoy the Herbal Compress portion where I felt like I was being tortured with hot stones searing my skin. My whole body had to suffer through it multiple times. I enjoyed the first half of the package where the Thai massage was being carried out but surely not the Herbal Compress where the hot stones were wrapped in cloth and they were dabbed across my body. My only source of comfort was that I hoped that the herbs (plai root, tamarind leaves, turmeric, bergamot peels, camphor, lemongrass and black herbal seeds) would be absorbed into my body and hence, make me healthier.
After the massage, the masseuse told us to gave them tips and even commented that the tips should be 200Bht. We felt bad but I also felt that they should not demand it and give us black faces when we did not give in to their expectations.
Overall, the massage is still worth it though the slight negativity in the masseuse attitudes and the uncomfortable Herbal Compress which I am sure that there would be people that enjoys it.

There are many outlets and the branch that I went to was the Sathorn one. TripAdvisor gave the Pinklao and Asoke Branch 4/5 while the Sathorn outlet only got 3.5/5.
Tip: Do try to go there in the day because it would be packed in the evening where the Thai working class would be making their trips there after their work. If you would like to go there in the evenings, make appointment with them!
